NASA is launching the SpaceX Crew-9 mission on September 26, 2024, transforming it into a rescue operation. Astronaut Nick Hague and cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov will lead the mission to bring home stranded astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams. Originally scheduled for a short mission, Wilmore and Williams now face an extended stay on the ISS due to technical issues with Boeing's Starliner.
